What is a Handpan?
Born in the 2000s
One of the world's youngest instruments — a steel sculpture that sings.
Every note in harmony
The scale is built in. Wherever your hands fall, it sounds beautiful.
No experience needed
No sheet music, no lessons. Meditation that begins in your palms.
D Kurd
Handpan Zero
A warm, balanced tone that feels close at hand. Gentle decay, a soft attack. From the very first note, this instrument seems to sing on its own.

Handpan Alpha
An open spread of overtones with a quiet shimmer inside. Versatile enough to live in a still room or sit beautifully inside a small ensemble.

Handpan Beta
A low, clear fundamental and a long sustain that recalls a cathedral. It opens the room and fills the silence.

Twelve quiet minutes. In a study of healthy adults, tension, irritability and fatigue all softened.
A meta-analysis across sixteen studies. Slow, sustained low-frequency tone lowered cortisol compared with silence.
Slow-tempo classical, and meditative tone. Heart-rate variability — the body's measure of autonomic ease — rose.
Forty-five minutes of quiet instrumental before bed. Participants who listened fell asleep sooner.
Slow, predictable sequences of tone shifted alpha-wave activity — the EEG signature of calm, settled focus.
Ninety-seven trials, more than nine thousand patients. Sustained, slowly unfolding music eased perceived pain in clinical settings.

the Making Of
「制作の舞台裏」
Two steel shells.
One quiet sound.
Invented in the year 2000, the handpan is two hammered steel domes joined at the rim and tuned note by note. It is played with the hands. There are no strings to press, no reeds to manage, no sheet music to read.
Its sound — a halo of gentle overtones that linger after the hand lifts — belongs to a much older family: the gongs, singing bowls, and bells the ear has always loved. Once you have heard a handpan, you do not forget it.

Anxiety, after listening
Goldsby et al., 2017 — peer-reviewed study on handpan and singing-bowl listening sessions.
I came in as a total beginner and left feeling like I had actually played music, not just practiced notes.
Features
Handcrafted
Stainless steel, one at a time
Skilled craftsmen hammer and tune each piece by ear. No two sound alike — every handpan is one of a kind.
Tuned Scale
Every note in harmony
Each instrument is tuned to a single scale, so every note you play sounds musical. No sheet music or experience required.
Apartment-friendly
About 70 dB — like a conversation
Quieter than a TV or vacuum cleaner. Play freely — even in apartments, even at night.
